Fixed Deadlines
Start of New Tax Year
Annual FilingThe UK tax year begins. Review your records from the previous year and plan ahead for the new one.
P60 Deadline
PayrollEmployers must issue P60 forms to all employees who were on the payroll on 5 April.
P11D Deadline
PayrollDeadline for submitting P11D forms to HMRC, reporting expenses and benefits provided to employees.
Payment on Account (2nd)
Self Assessment CriticalSecond payment on account for Self Assessment is due. This is an advance payment towards next year's tax bill.
Register for Self Assessment
Self AssessmentDeadline to register for Self Assessment with HMRC if you have a new source of untaxed income.
Paper Self Assessment Deadline
Self AssessmentLast day to submit a paper Self Assessment tax return. Most people file online, but if you prefer paper, this is your cutoff.
Online Self Assessment + Payment
Self Assessment CriticalDeadline for online Self Assessment tax return filing and payment of any tax owed. Late filing incurs an automatic £100 penalty.
Recurring Deadlines
PAYE/CIS Monthly Due
Payroll 19th MonthlyMonthly deadline for PAYE and CIS deductions to reach HMRC (19th by post, 22nd electronically).
VAT Quarterly Return
VAT 1 Month + 7 Days After Quarter EndVAT-registered businesses must submit their quarterly return and payment one month and seven days after the end of the VAT quarter.
Corporation Tax Payment
Corporation Tax 9 Months + 1 Day After Year EndCorporation tax is due nine months and one day after the end of the company's accounting period.
Annual Accounts Filing
Annual Filing 9 Months After Year EndPrivate limited companies must file annual accounts with Companies House within nine months of the end of their financial year.
